Over 200,000 Deaths Due to Coronavirus

I am still actually going into the office only one day a week and working the other days from home. All at my office are still doing the same, and there is no plan to change this in the near future.

When I wrote the last post in March, there were 163,705 confirmed cases and 3,402 deaths. Less than a full six months later there are 6,754,321 cases and over 200,000 deaths! I can remember when I first heard that there could be 100,000 to 200,000 deaths due to this pandemic in the U.S., and that is when the reality of this thing hit me. Now only six months later we have already surpassed the 200,000 deaths and it continues to climb. I have seen predictions that there will be over 300,000 deaths in the U.S. by the end of this year. That’s crazy, and I’m sorry, but it really didn’t need to be this bad. In my opinion the lack of leadership and action by the President has led to many of the deaths and the continued measures that we have to take because we didn’t get a handle on this virus.

I can still report that I don’t know anyone that has or has had the virus. I really thought that by this time I would know someone that had it, but it’s still no.

I believe the reports that we are going to be dealing with this through at least the middle to end of next year. While a vaccine will eventually be available, how effective it will be as well as how long it will last is still an unknown. If it is like our flu vaccine, it will not be 100% effective and people will still get it.

None of this is very good news six months later; it’s almost like we haven’t learned very much and still haven’t got ahead of the virus which is why we are going t have to cope with it for an even longer period of time.

Stay safe and stay healthy.
