While most of you didn't know it, I have been running two Wordpress hosted blog sites: serenity-now.us and gdgt.zone. On the serenity-now site I posted things about the family, home, travel, etc., and posted technology and computer stuff on gdgt.zone.
I haven't been writing as much as I want; I always have great ideas and good intentions, but either laziness or other things get in the way. So my biggest challenge is writing more. The other thing was I didn't want to really maintain two sites.
I had looked into Ghost hosting in the past and was intrigued, so i watched some YouTube videos for how it worked as well as opinions. I thought this would be my solution to run one site, fully hosted in one place.
Less than a week ago I signed up for their "Creator" tier. I definitely could have got by with the "Starter" plan which was cheaper, but with the "Creator" plan I would get their concierge service which would move all my posts from the other two sites to this new site.
After signup I emailed their concierge service via email (concierge@ghost.org) and was responded to quickly by Jon Hickman. Jon told me what I needed to do to allow them access to my site as well as the names of the sites I was moving from. Within a couple of days Jon emailed me, not only stating that all the posts, pictures, videos, tags, etc. were moved to the new site, but he also detailed where there were a few issues. For example, some videos that I embedded on the Wordpress sites were not compatible, so they did not transfer. He listed specifically which ones they were. In addition, he added a tag to each post based on which site it came from.
The concierge service that Jon Hickman of Ghost provided was speedy, thorough, and detailed. I was very impressed.
Serenity-Now.us and gdgt.zone have been redirected to this site, so if you went there and ended up here you know why. Bookmark this new site, dav3sworld.blog and subscribe so you will receive a notice when new content is published.
So far my experience with Ghost has been great and I highly recommend them. If you are using Ghost, I would like to know what you think.
